eBay office in Moscow to govern 200 markets worldwide

ebay.jpg200 local markets will go under the governance of the Moscow office of eBay, with a new HiPo region (High Potential Global Emerging markets) to be formed within the company infrastructure. Ilya Kretov, General Manager, eBay Russia, will   also become the head of an international team in the eBay offices headquartered in San Francisco, Shanghai, Singapore, Mexico City and Tel Aviv.

In addition to Scandinavia, Eastern, Southern Europe, the CIS, the Middle East and Africa – already governed from Moscow office – the new region will include China, Southeast Asia, Central and Latin America. The new team will be primarily responsible for improving customer experience on the platform, developing export sales of eBay local sellers, as well as introducing exporters’ special tools already in place in Russia.

The transformation will accelerate the launch of eBay global initiatives throughout the region, first and foremost, the integrated logistics solutions and the direct payments program. Innovative logistics will ensure faster and more convenient delivery to customers, opening up new export opportunities for sellers at the same time. The payment process will be simplified as well. The ‘Payments’ programme will allow buyers to effect transactions choosing various payment options available on the eBay website, while sellers will receive money directly at their bank accounts. Apart from these programmes, of special attention will be the implementation and development of additional technical solutions for sellers and buyers. The initiatives for eBay users in the HiPo region are expected to be launched by 2021.

Ilya Kretov, eBay HiPo General Manager:
“The company undergoes internal structural changes today, and the formation of such a region is driven by the similarity of e-commerce markets in these countries, with the main focus on cross-border e-commerce. We aim to improve the eBay seller and buyer experience in these countries as much as possible. Improvement of the marketplace functionality globally is the most ambitious task. And at the same time, this demonstrates the head office’s great confidence in our team and proves the correct choice of strategy for the cross-border e-commerce development.”
