V.me digital walletVisa has introduced its V.me digital wallet in Australia.

JB Hi-Fi is one of the initial retail partners for the launch and more than 40 financial institutions have also revealed plans to partner with Visa to offer V.me to their customers, including ANZ, National Australia Bank, Westpac, Suncorp, Citigroup and ING Direct.

To ensure that V.me matches how consumers shop with retailers, it will be accessible via computer, smartphone and tablet, with personal account information protected by passwords and device identification technology. All card details will be kept by Visa to reduce consumer risk in sharing credit card details with unknown retailers.

V.me by Visa enables consumers to make online payments via the internet browser on a computer, laptop, tablet or smartphone. V.me stores personal account information behind layers of security within Visa's network. Thus, consumers will not have to re-enter account number, bill-to and ship-to information at checkout.
