Tiffany & Co has announced plans to open a two-storey jewellery boutique in Moscow's GUM department store in early 2014. The store will be the brand's first wholly owned retail business in Russia, measuring about 420sqm.
Frederic Cumenal, executive vice president, Tiffany & Co, said of the news: "Establishing a presence at this pre-eminent department store is a milestone in our growth strategy as a leading global luxury brand and underscores the importance of the Russian market. We've designed the store with the warmth and elegance that make our legendary jewellery collections a pleasure to explore, and we look forward to welcoming everyone to the Tiffany shopping experience."
The store will sell Tiffany's diamond engagement rings and a selection of rare yellow and pink diamond jewellery. Pieces by the brand's guest designers Elsa Peretti, Jean Schlumberger and Paloma Picasso will also be available. Its interior will be designed with Tiffany motifs such as the brand's Tiffany Blue colourway. Details will include polished stainless steel fittings with a wheat leaf pattern - the same design that frames the entrance of Tiffany's Fifth Avenue flagship store.
Tiffany announced in its Q4 results that it planned to open several new European and international stores in 2014.
