This information was provided by the retailer’s General Director and CEO Jan Dunning.
The retailer has started exploring the possibility of wholesale as an additional opportunity to increase profits.
Currently, German retailer Metro suspends its regional development in Russia, and Lenta is going to take advantage of this. The domestic network has developed wholesale sales for some years, but on a small scale.
The retailer executives believe this is the most promising area in a crisis economy.
"When we come to understanding, that this is going to be a serious story we will tell the market more about this," - said Dunning.
In Moscow and St. Petersburg, Lenta has all the chances to occupy the niche of products supplies for restaurants and cafes, Mikhail Burmistrov, General Director of “Infoline-analysts” believes, since Metro’s minimum supply volumes and the terms of delivery are not always suitable for restaurateurs.
