According to the press, restrictions on products supply from Turkey may be introduced even today.
Nevertheless, the introduction of the trade embargo against Turkey is not considered. According to a source from the government, the imports restriction mechanisms are being worked out. To implement them, government agencies such as Rosselkhoznadzor (Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance) and Rospotrebnadzor (Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing) may be involved, said the head of a Turkish food importer.
According to sources in Rosselkhoznadzor, the agency is not going to tighten the control over goods from Turkey, while the Ministry of Agriculture says that the situation in the food supply from Turkey is being studied.
Russian importers, however, have announced receipt of notifications from the Federal Customs Service regarding introduction of "Turkey-related risks." This means that FCS may refuse registration of the declarations for the products, of which the country of origin and dispatch is Turkey.
If the customs inspector nevertheless decides to issue a declaration for such products, he will have to agree this with all functional divisions, to introduce a full-scale customs screening and to take samples to be checked for compliance with product safety and quality parameters, explained the newspaper’s interlocutor.
