McDonald's teams up with Alipay for mobile payments

Alibaba’s payments subsidiary, Alipay, has struck a deal with McDonald’s that will see customers be able to make mobile payments in its 2,100 stores around China.
According to McDonald’s, its chains in Shanghai will be the first to be decked out with the new technology, with the complete rollout set to occur by March 2016. To complete a transaction, customers will have to scan a QR code on their phone.
Alipay is accepted in over 200,000 offline retailers and eateries across China. It is also accepted in a further 30,000 shops in Seoul, Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan and Germany.
