Instagram to launch direct ad sales in Russia

Instagram implements a new project in cooperation with Aitarget, which will become the social network’s official reseller in Russia
16 million active accounts are registered in the Russian Instagram, and in terms of penetration the social network is ranked 5th among all countries.
"Every year the social network audience in the country grows by more than 25%. This growth is not based on the capital cities alone: Moscow and St. Petersburg account for as few as 20% and 10% of Instagram users in Russia, respectively," the company’s press release reads. “Using the new service, the advertisers will be able to attract attention of the young, dynamically growing audience of Instagram in Russia.”
The domestic audience has a few characteristic features
2/3 of Internet users in Russia are 18- to 34-years-olds (65% of them - women). At the same time, the younger part of the audience visit the service 5-10 times a day.
To post an ad, the advertisers will be able to use 3 available formats: image/link, a 15 second video and an image showing a button for the app installation. Such posts will be displayed in the user feeds with an ‘advertisement’ mark.
