Guus M. DikGuus M. Dik, De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB), confirmed his participation as a speaker in PLUS Forum. The title of his presentation: “Cash, we can't do without it yet”.

Guus joined DNB in 1993 as a technical engineer at the Cash department. Trained as a fine-mechanical engineer, Guus started his career at the Eindhoven University of Technology at the department of applied physics. After several years he moved to the Amsterdam area and continued his career as an engineer at the Royal Dutch Airlines (KLM) at Schiphol airport and several years later he found a new job opportunity at DNB in Amsterdam.

Although started as an engineer at the cash department, Guus soon specialized in IT and applied his skills for innovative solutions within the Cash department. In 2007 he became a Technical IT specialist at the DNB Cash Operations department and developed several innovative solutions for banknote sorting machines and cash management systems.

In 2011 he became the coordinator of DNBs Cash Expertise Centre (CEC). The Cash experts from DNBs Currency Policy and Cash Operations departments participate in the Cash Expertise Centre. DNB offers via the Cash Expertise Centre a wide range of cash expertise for other central banks, cash related organisations such as (commercial) banks, cash centres and (sorting machine) manufacturers.

In 2012 Guus became – next to his role as coordinator of the Cash Expertise Centre – the coordinator of the Eurosystem R&D banknote sorting test consortium (ESTC). The Eurosystem R&D banknote sorting test consortium is a cooperation between the central banks of Austria (OeNB), France (BdF) and the Netherlands (DNB) and the European Central Bank (ECB) is the sole client of the ESTC. On request of the ECB the ESTC organises and performs a variety of tests related to banknote sorting and testing of new (authenticity) sensors.

The 5th International PLUS Forum “Cash Circulation + Self-service. Banking and Retail 2013” will be held in Moscow on 21-22 October, 2013. 
The event is primarily aimed at analyze the current state of cash circulation and the situation in the banking sector. The Forum participants will discuss a number of “hot topics” such as results of self-service systems introduction, cash management and cash recycling technologies and solutions, vital cash operation issues, security problems and new CIT technologies, issues of ATM fraud fighting, prevention of counterfeiting in the Russian Federation and abroad, and other.    

According to estimates of the Steering Committee, this year the Forum will bring together over 1,000 delegates from Russia, the CIS and other countries.
