шопинг.jpgFrance’s e-commerce market rose by 14 percent to EUR 12.1 billion in the first quarter, compared to the year-earlier period, according to ecommerce and distance selling association Fevad. Nearly 19,000 new e-shopping sites were created over the last 12 months, taking the number of active e-commerce sites to 120,000. The number of online shoppers reached 32.6 million in the first quarter, 5 percent more than a year earlier. Nearly two-thirds of online shoppers visited at least one of the top-15 e-commerce sites in the first quarter.

Among over 65 year-olds, the progression was 27 percent. The average shopping basket fell by 4 percent to EUR 85, the lowest ever recorded by Fevad. This metric has declined by 8 percent over 2 years. The decrease is compensated by a higher frequency of purchases, which rose to 5.5 points transactions per online buyer per month in the first quarter from 4.8 in the first quarter a year earlier.

The biggest e-commerce websites by unique visitors per month were Amazon, Cdiscount, Fnac, eBay, PriceMinister, La Redoute, Voyages-SNCF.com, Carrefour, Rue du Commerce and Groupon.
