Cainiao and USPS strike cross-border logistics deal

Cainiao, Alibaba’s logistics affiliate, and the United States Postal Service (USPS) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to devise shipping solutions to improve cross border shipping experience for both sellers and buyers.
According to a recent statement issued by Alibaba, the two companies will work together to speed delivery of merchandise sold through AliExpress to consumers in the US, and the USPS will also help expand Cainiao’s delivery networks worldwide, especially in South America.
Alibaba believes that the agreement will making it easier and more efficient for Chinese companies to sell and deliver goods directly to US consumers. Alibaba added that the two companies are also “exploring the feasibility of integrating USPS technology into the Cainiao logistics information platform, as well as other Alibaba’s ecommerce platforms”.
While the agreement with USPS is a key component of Alibaba’s globalisation strategy, the Chinese ecommerce company pointed out that “Alibaba Group and its affiliates are working with other national mail carriers including Singapore Post and Spanish Post”, the source cites.
