The company has reportedly leased about fifty aisles in the IXcellerate data center
Once the Russian law on personal data came into force as of September 1, Apple has officially transferred the data of Russian users to the territory of the Russian Federation. It is known that the company placed a tender bid for the lease of aisles in the data center in mid-summer, but the results have not been announced until now.
It is to be recalled that the main reason for such a move by the company's management was an amendment to the current law on personal data.
The amendment comes into effect as of September 1, 2015.
According to the wording of the new amendment, any organization should ensure a space to store data of Russian users on the territory of the Russian Federation only. This applies to both the primary recording and subsequent accumulation and updating of the information placed onto the server.
