The service will be available to the cardholders on all NFC-enabled devices running Android 4.4 KitKat or higher. According to our sources, Sberbank is also testing this technology.

In late 2016 several sources in banking institutions simultaneously predicted the arrival of Google’s Android Pay to the Russian market this spring. However, at that time Sberbank and Alfa-Bank were named the most likely participants in the pilot launch.

Android Pay is a Google Wallet-based contactless payment system launched in 2011. Later, the Google Wallet service was renamed to Android Pay and announced at Google's I/O conference in 2015.  To date, Android Pay operates in the US, UK, Singapore, Australia, China (in Hong Kong), Poland, New Zealand, Ireland and Japan.
